Firoz Khan Manganiyar is a renowned Kartaal (Khartaal) artist from the Ishani Gharana of the Manganiyar community of Rajasthan. Born into a legendary musical lineage, Kartaal is not merely an instrument for him — it is inheritance.
He began his musical training at a very young age under the guidance of his father, Ustad Gaffur Khan Manganiyar, one of the most respected Kartaal maestros and folk vocalists of his generation. His extraordinary command over rhythm earned him the title “Chhota Jadugar of Kartaal” early in his career.
With over 18 years of professional performance experience, Firoz Khan has performed extensively across India and internationally at prestigious cultural festivals and concert platforms. His artistry has led him to collaborate with celebrated names including composer Amit Trivedi, folk icon Mame Khan, percussion maestro Taufiq Qureshi, singer-composer Aditya Gadhvi, and Padma Shri awardee Anwar Khan.
Internationally, he has worked with global collectives such as The Techmen Family and German electronic musician Andy Hannes, bridging traditional Manganiyar rhythm with contemporary global soundscapes.
Through The Kartaal Project, Firoz Khan presents Kartaal as a global rhythmic voice — restoring it as a lead instrument, honoring its legacy, and shaping its future for new generations of listeners.
